Happy Holidays! Empty Happy Holidays!

Post by yelrsub Fri Dec 18, 2009 1:32 am

Looks like we're in snooze mode for the rest of the year -- at least on the forum. Hope everyone has a great holiday and safe New Year.

Anyone care to recap their favorite MINI road trips this year? Mine was on the small two-lanes in Death Valley National Monument in early November. Besides the spectacular scenery, the roads in some areas twist and wind around hills, valleys, rock formations and long slopes. Luckily the park patrols were elsewhere during the fun!

Cheers,

Happy Holidays! Empty I'm not sure. I liked them all!

Post by Max Mon Dec 21, 2009 6:35 pm

From a "just there for the fun" standpoint I liked them all. I always enjoy Trinity/VLA. Of course we never managed to stay on schedule the entire day. LOL That was a bit of concern for me as we had a schedule to keep in order to catch the last tour at the VLA. But it all worked out in the end.

I always enjoy a track day. The last one was a bit sparce with I think only 4 or so MINI's running and couple more watching from the stands. I went one more time on Hot Rod day. I was the only MINI but still managed to get in a few decent runs. Just a tiny bit more power and I think I can run in the 15's! I won 4 out of 7 runs! I even raced a milk truck! LOL

While I don't mind organizing trips I do enjoy the ones where I just get to drive my car. We did a couple drives up to Taos and that area. Those were great. Twisty roads, great lunch stops, and walking around Taos was fun. Even though my Caramel Apple was very uncooperative. The museum trip was fun too. We hit the Museum of Natural History, then Tinkertown, then the Sandia Crest. Great fun!

I really like the "Let's Motor Now" trips! When someone posts an idea and we just pack up and go! Those are some of the best trips. Very little planning involved. Always large on fun!

I'm looking forward to some runs down south this year. Perhaps another Rallye type thing toward Cruses? That would definitely take away the home town advantage plus we could meet more of the Southern NM MINI's. What about the Carlsbad overnighter? We should bring that one back.

Ok that's it for me. Have a great holiday season. See ya all next year!

PS: We still need to set up lunches and dinners for January. Plus trips!

Happy Holidays! Empty MINI Year in Review!

Post by BHunter54 Tue Dec 22, 2009 2:46 pm

I'm with you Max, it is very difficult for me to pick a favorite. The high road to Taos is right near the top of the list though. Great turn out, lots of twisties taken very fast, and very slow with beautiful sights to see. The trips to the Jemez and Bandolier were also great fun, got to meet alot of you on the later during my pinic show'n'tell. Trinity and VLA were great, so sorry we were late, and the trip Mountaineer, is a must go back next year. In hind site I wish I had joined in Drag'n the Mini's I hope we get a couple more chances to do it in MMX. Last but not least, even though Jonathan and I came in last we had a great time in the Post Card Rally, and I know he wants a chance to do better next time. Hope to see you all on the road next year.

Wishing you all a happy and safe holiday,
Jonathan, Lupe, & Chuck
