Back Up Beepers Empty Back Up Beepers

My Mini's back up beepers went out for no good reason. The dealership wants lots of money for fixing them, so now I have one obnoxious sound when I first shift into reverse and no more sensors. Does anyone have any experience with this little option and how to get it going and/or replaced for less than the dealership?
