Let's Motor in March!

Let's do a group drive on Saturday, March 17th - St. Paddy's Day! Meet at Sandia Mini that morning for an ON TIME departure of 9:00am. (For those of us who know the group...that means arriving with a full tank of gas! )

We'll do the back road up through Moriarty to Santa Fe, lunch (Bobcat Bite??) and then if you want to continue around through Jemez Springs and home, join us for that, or if you need to head south from Santa Fe, that's fine.

Looking forward to seeing everyone then!!

Of course! I also need to touch base with you about the drive you wanted to set up relating to curves?? (Max mentioned it to me).

Err, "Tunnels" not "curves". But "Curves" and "Tunnels" would be nice.

Curvy tunnels?

Short straight tunnels, but lots of curves getting to them. It's the Gilman tunnels in the Jemez. I'd like to set this up for when the trees are greening, still several weeks away at least.

Drive to the tunnels, take pics, then motor on up to Jemez Springs, Valle Caldera or I can get access to a cabin for a weekend, but people have to be willing to drive UP a 2-mile sometimes bumpy dirt road. The place sleeps about 14 people, there's a wood-fired sauna, hikes, birds and it's quiet at night.

I'll try to find out when the trees typically start leafing out.

I'm probably going to make it but I'll split off from the group in SFE to scout the route to Chimayo. I'm doing the pilgrimage/hike with a friend and I need to fill in some blanks on a few things. Anyone that wants to tag along can but I can't promise it will be fun. :-)
